Wildlife Loop
SEE MORE OF CUSTER STATE PARK AND THE WILDLIFE LOOP WITH DAVE'S GUIDED TOURS.
The Black Hills National Forest has many gems and the Wildlife Loop makes our top ten if not the top five.
The Wildlife Loop is one of Custer State Park's highlights and we love sharing it with visitors. Custer State Park's Wildlife Loop State Scenic Byway is a beautiful 18-mile stretch of grass prairies and pine-covered rolling hills. It’s also where much of the park's wildlife reside.

The bison herd is often the one thing our guests always ask about. The herd is about 1,300 buffalo and the North American bison can grow to 6 feet tall and weigh over 2,000 pounds. The thing is not everyone knows where to look. Now, we can't guarantee anything but we will say that we typically see the buffalo plus prairie dogs, antelope, mules, hawks, pronghorn sheep, elk and much-much-more.
Break out the camera and capture some great photos along this unique and exciting scenic byway outside of Custer, South Dakota.
Other nearby attractions are Mount Rushmore, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument and Crazy Horse Memorial.
