We encourage visitors to get out on the trails. The George S. Mickelson Trail extends from Deadwood to Edgemont going through Custer and the Black Hills National Forest. Deadwood's elevation is 4,531 and its population is just over 1,300 with nearby Lead, SD at 3,000 people.
